About Me

I have over 20 years of experience in professional psychology practice including inpatient and outpatient work, individual and group psychotherapies, personality assessment, and testing new psychotherapies in research trials. Much of my work has been with individuals who are still distressed after participating in traditional psychotherapies, particularly those who are managing trauma and spiritual or values-related concerns.

More About My Practice

I invite my clients into shared decision-making, providing information about evidence-based therapies for their concerns, and exploring which approaches are more consistent with their values, learning style, and previous successes. Much of my work involves narrative therapies, which invite clients to tell their stories from new perspectives to help them learn more about their strengths, values, and social context, and build plans for living forward into their personal values and goals. For clients interested in spiritually-integrated care, I have expertise in working ethically within each client's faith perspective, including collaboration with clergy if the client feels that is helpful.

My Specialties

I have been involved in the development of treatments for moral injury syndrome, a syndrome that can occur when individuals have faced serious moral dilemmas, resulting in questioning basic assumptions, losing trust in self or others, and sometimes self-sabotage that makes it difficult to seek and stay in mental health care. I have experience in providing several different kinds of treatment for this syndrome. Additional areas of expertise include mood and depressive disorders, life transitions, psychosis, and trauma-focused care.
