Psychology Specialists of Maine was built around a simple idea: psychologists do their best work when the practice is designed to support them.

PSM is one of Maine’s leading multidisciplinary behavioral health practices, bringing together psychologists, board-certified psychiatrists, advanced trainees, and an exceptional administrative team. We have built the infrastructure, referral network, clinical community, and professional opportunities that allow psychologists to focus their time and energy where it matters most: their clinical work and continued growth.

Our psychologists are supported by highly experienced teams managing intake, scheduling, billing, insurance verification, collections, technology, marketing, and practice operations. Strong referral demand means clinicians can build and maintain caseloads without marketing themselves or managing the business of private practice.

But PSM offers more than infrastructure.

Through our Center for Education and Training, Center for Relationships, Center for Neurodiversity, APPIC-member postdoctoral residency, and multidisciplinary team that includes five board-certified psychiatrists, psychologists have opportunities for consultation, advanced training, specialization, teaching, supervision, and leadership throughout their careers.

Two ways to practice at PSM

Telehealth Affiliate Psychologist
Designed for licensed psychologists who want to maintain a smaller clinical practice of 8–16 clinical hours per week while gaining the referrals, infrastructure, professional community, and reputation of PSM. Affiliate psychologists work remotely as independent contractors and determine the clinical commitment that fits their lives. Learn more and apply here.

Staff Psychologist
Our benefits-eligible staff positions are designed for psychologists who want PSM to be their primary professional home. Full-time psychologists complete 1,100 Relative Clinical Units annually, generally averaging approximately 24 client appointments per week, with significant schedule flexibility, generous time away from work, comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision), retirement match, and opportunities for professional growth and leadership.
