Lost in Translation: Communication and Connection for Neurodivergent Adults

Lost in Translation: Communication and Connection for Neurodivergent Adults

Do conversations sometimes leave you wondering what someone meant - or wishing they better understood you?

Lost in Translation is an eight-week group for neurodivergent adults, particularly autistic adults and adults with ADHD, who want to understand differences between neurodivergent and neurotypical experiences and explore communication differences, helping to build confidence in connecting with others.

Through practical learning and supportive discussion, participants will explore how people interpret words, tone, and social expectations differently. You’ll learn ways to clarify confusing interactions, express your needs and intentions, and navigate misunderstandings while respecting your own communication style.

Topics include:

  • Understanding neurodivergence and communication differences

  • Exploring what people say, what they mean, and how to ask for clarification

  • Understanding directness, tone, and how messages are received

  • Recognizing how culture, identity, and context shape communication

The group offers opportunities to share experiences, learn from others, and apply new approaches to everyday relationships.

Format: Eight weekly online sessions combining education, communication skills, and supportive discussion. The same participants will attend throughout the series.

Schedule: Online via Zoom Mondays 5pm to 6pm beginning January 11th.

Joining: A conversation with the group facilitator will help determine whether the group fits your needs and goals. Clients new to PSM will complete an intake before joining.
